Dear Guests,

You will be staying at the home of Karla Andersdatter, local poet, novelist, children's author, and artist. You will see her paintings and books in every room. Here at Muir Beach you are in easy walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, in the midst of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area which provides hiking trails and an abundance of natural beauty. We are two and one half miles from Muir Woods.

The Monarch butterfly returns here each year between October and March. They have diminished in the last 10 years, dramatically so, but perhaps they will return in full company in the future. If you are lucky you will see them outside your window. The Pelican Inn is within walking distance and serves dinner from 6-9 pm. Lunch, tea, and snacks are also served. The Zen Center at Green Gulch Farm offers Buddhist services at 10 am on Sunday. The public is invited to join them for meditation, lecture, question and answer, tea, and muffins, and vegetarian lunch. There are maps and books available at the Butterfly Tree to help you become acquainted with the Northern California Coast. This is a secluded fragile environment, perfect as a restful hideaway for special occasions or just 'time out'. We are 30 minutes from San Francisco, with easy access to the Sausalito ferry and shopping. We are an hour's drive to the Sonoma County wineries. We do not sell T shirts, or even have any, but we do sell books, cards, and arts prints when they are available. Welcome, and peace be with you.
